比赛仅仅进行到第3分钟，日本队在哥伦比亚禁区外围打门，对手的球员桑切斯在禁区内用手将球挡出，哥伦比亚吃红牌，并且判给日本队一个点球。
没错，发出这张红牌的原因就是因为桑切斯手球了，他在禁区内用手将球挡出。

手球就是足球比赛时球碰到上肢造成的犯规，当守门员在禁区外上肢接触球也要判犯规（碰到肩膀不算）。禁区内防守方的手球一般要根据情况慎重判罚点球，主要依据是手臂离开躯干的角度、与出球点的距离是否来得及反应等来判断主观的故意性和实际的手臂拦截效果。
而进攻方的得利一般都必须判罚，视主观故意的情况而给予黄牌或者红牌的追加处罚。
